Game Details & Rules

About the game

Dune: Imperium – Uprising is a standalone sequel to the acclaimed original, blending deck-building and worker placement in the harsh deserts of Arrakis. Published by Dire Wolf in 2023, it captures the tension of the later events in the Dune saga, introducing high-stakes mechanics like sandworms and a dedicated six-player team mode.

While it functions as a complete experience on its own, it remains compatible with previous expansions like Rise of Ix and Immortality. Players must navigate political alliances and military conflicts to secure victory points and claim control over the spice trade.

How to play

In Dune: Imperium – Uprising rules, players use a starting deck of cards to send Agents to various locations on the board. Each space provides resources such as water, spice, or influence with the four major factions. The goal is to build a more powerful deck while strategically positioning your military forces for the Combat phase at the end of each round.

This version introduces Spies, which can be placed on specific board connections to gather intel or facilitate Agent movement. Additionally, players can now harness the power of the Fremen to summon massive sandworms. These creatures double the rewards from combat victories but require careful planning to deploy effectively.

Who it's for

This game is designed for 1 to 6 players who enjoy deep strategy and thematic immersion. It is particularly well-suited for fans of the original Dune: Imperium who are looking for more complexity and new tactical layers. The addition of the 3v3 team mode makes it a great choice for larger gaming groups.

With a minimum age of 13 and a playtime of roughly 120 minutes, it appeals to mid-to-heavy weight board gamers. If you enjoy balancing long-term engine building with immediate tactical maneuvering, this struggle for the Imperium will provide a rewarding challenge.
